Two Excellent Articles on Local Sound Currency Systems and the Federal Reserve Problem from the River Cities' Reader

Right on cue (following my post suggesting steps we can take ourselves to effect honest money) comes this article from the River Cities' Reader by Jeff Ignatius titled The Future of Money?: With the Economy a Wreck, Alternative Currencies Could Gain Traction.

This piece does an excellent job of comparing privately issued precious metal currencies (using the Liberty Dollar as its example) with other types of local monetary systems. The thrust of the article is summed up in the statement of two of its author's interviewees who "said that people need to look for local solutions to our problems instead of relying on the federal government." Amen to that!

You can read the full article at the link here.

And while you're at it, I recommend you also check out this critically accurate look at the Federal Reserve by Todd McGreevy titled Neither Federal Nor Reserve at the link here.
