South Carolina to Ban Federal Reserve Notes?

A state representative from South Carolina has introduced a bill that would implement the mandate of Article I Section 10 of the United States Constitution that "No State shall...make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts;..."

According to an article at CBS News.com titled, "South Carolina Lawmaker Seeks to Ban Federal Currency:"

"South Carolina Rep. Mike Pitts has introduced legislation that would mandate that gold and silver coins replace federal currency as legal tender in his state."

Whether this undertaking will amount to anything remains to be seen.  It is, nevertheless, a step in the right direction that could be taken by other states.
